[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Anas acuta - Kılkuyruk [TR], Pintail [EN] is fifth post from my İzmir trip; after Gallinula chloropus (GRUIFORMES: RALLIDAE), Buteo buteo (FALCONIFORMES: ACCIPITRIDAE), Platalea leucorodia (CICONIIFORMES: THRESKIORNITHIDAE), and Numenius arquata (CHARADRIIFORMES: SCOLOPACIDAE).

A. acuta can be seen almost all parts of Turkiye; especially Trakya [Thrace], Ege [Aegean] and Akdeniz [Mediterranean] regions in winter. Unfortunately this beautiful duck is preferred by hunters and killed often.

Its scientific [Latin] and Turkish and English vernacular names refer its tail. Especially males have a long tail. You can see it on Workshop.

The shot was taken from car window and cropped heavily. The female (in front) and male are seen on this photograph. I also added another Workshop from same area and you can see females and males together on ground.

My special thanks to Mustafa Sözen (spalaxtr) and Zafer Kurnuç (zaferK) for transporting and friendship.

Salam Akhi Ahmet,
lovely repetition of the bird in flight. Captivating symmetry. The sharpness and clarity is excellent and well seen in the sky.
Very fast action taken in capturing this superbs image.
Well presented in lovely colours.

Regards,
Foozi

Wonderful capture of this couple of Pintails flying in tandem, Dr Ahmet.
It is not easy to capture birds in flight; you, on the contrary, have produced a work of art.
Superb details and colours on the birds.
Well done and all the best.

Hi Ahmet,

A beautiful capture of this lovely couple flying so close together. I am amazed that this fine shot was taken from your car window. You have frozen them perfectly in the midst of their flight. Excellent colors and details of the faces and feathers. The wings are magnificent. All three photos are excellent.

God morgon Ahmet!
A superb in-flight of a pair of Anas acuta in flight. The POV and synchronised frozen wing action are great and the sharpness and DOF amazing for only f4.
A marvellous capture my friend,
Thanks for sharing it.

Ivan

Truly wonderful photo of these flying pintails. The lighting is very pleasant, and, of course, the position of the two birds makes for an interesting and excellent composition. Gary

Hi Ahmet,

Sevgili Dostum,
İşte budur Dr, nefis foto,
Eline sağlık.
Selamlar
Mustafa

Ahmet,
You are a GREAT photographer. Your TN postings are unique.
Yet, I could not see the "eye" of the "LEAD DUCK".
And, with all the equipment listed below, that you own, I was and am convinced that the "FOCUSING" of the subject is dead on. However, you, perhaps, did not use the software to its highest potential to show the BEAUTY OF THE "LEAD DUCK" bringing out the fine colours on its head & its eye.
I used a simple tool: "PICASA 3". Merely encreased the "LIGHT" on the subject.
No new TECHNIQUE. It was no JOKE either. Was very very simple.
This note is also on the W/S.
Inspite of your shortfall, a minor issue, this image does deserve a "GREEN SMILE".
Friendly regards,
Mario.
