Ardea cinerea - Gri Balıkçıl [TR], Grey Heron [EN] is a member of the family ARDEIDAE (CICONIIFORMES). It is a large heron, standing 85-105 cm tall and its wingspan 175-195 cm.
It occurs throughout temperate Europe and Asia and also parts of Africa.
A. cinerea is listed by IUCN as Least Concern (LC).
It breeds in colonies in trees close to lakes, the sea-shore or other wetlands, although it will also nest in reed beds. It builds a bulky stick nest.
The bird catches fish or frogs with its long bill in shallow water.
The nominate form, A. c. cinerea, ranges also in Turkiye and it is one of its four subspecies.

Merhaba Ahmet,
An excellent capture of the Grey Heron, taken from fine semi-frontal POV to show this adult in breeding plumage with superb sharpness and colours against a fine natural BG.
I have not yet succeeded in taking a good shot of this common species!

Hi Ahmet,

A beautiful shot of this Grey Heron with the inquisitive look on his face. He looks so sharp as he surveys the grass. The face, eye, beak, feathers, and even his legs are shown in fine detail with wonderful colors. I love the grassy setting and composition.
