[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hello my friends,
As I noted in my last post, I was in my homeland, Giresun during religious holiday. I came back yesterday after a good week.
During this period, I visited often Black Sea [Karadeniz] shores, with Mehmet Özcan (meo) and Ömer Kulaçoğlu who are amateur bird photographers like me.
We observed many bird species, from Alcedo atthis (Kingfisher, Yalıçapkını) and Aythya fuligula (Tufhed Duck, Tepeli Patka) to Buteo buteo (Buzzard, Şahin) and Emberiza rustica (Rustic Bunting, Akkaşlı Kirazkuşu). Of these, last species was recorded third time from Turkiye (since 1900).
Today's post belongs to a member of the family ANATIDAE (ANSERIFORMES): Cygnus olor - Mute Swan [EN], Kuğu, Sessiz Kuğu [TR].

It is one of three species of the genus Cygnus in Turkiye. Other two species;
***Cygnus cygnus - Whooper Swan [EN], Ötücü Kuğu [TR]
***Cygnus columbianus - Bewick's Swan [EN], Küçük Kuğu [TR].
and C. olor winters in Turkiye, mostly northern coasts. Sometimes, it is also seen in summer.

This swan on the photograph was taken in Gülyalı District of Ordu Province. When I saw it firstly on December 10th, it was rainy and closed. In next day, it was sunny and swan fed, swimming on Black Sea. It was near the beach. You can see it totally and with another portraite on Workshop. I used 1.4X teleconverter and Focal Length arrived 840 mm. Distance was about 20 m.

I'd like to dedicate it to my friend, Goldy RS (goldyrs). I hope you will like these shots.

Hi Ahmet,

Three lovely shots of the graceful swan. A nice dedication to Goldy - he will love it! The curve of the neck is beautiful with the added bonus of the water droplets. Excellent white and black. The water and the unusual rays of light make a superb background.

A beautiful close portrait of a young swan that has almost gained its adult plumage. I like the composition with the curvature of the neck against a fine light in the wavy water BG.
Fine technical quality too.
This is the best image of the three alternatives but the others are fine too.

Hi Ahmet!

I just posted a shot about swans and there I wrote I didn't want to post too ordinary one shown a thousand times.
Probably you thought the same because your shot is even more special with this wonderful composition and the little shiny drops on the head and neck! I love the second ws as well very much for using water play very nicely.
Superb sharpness in all pictures and they're full of details. TFS!
