[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Maybe photographic quality not very well. But I prefer it is a new one here. TN is firstly nature-photography site, but many time I also use it as a biological library. I think many people do same thing.
Today's post is another new species for TN: Mesobuthus nigrocinctus (SCORPIONES: BUTHIDAE).

The scorpion was described about two hundred years ago by Hemprich & Ehrenberg (1828). However, it gained valid species in the year 2000 by Fet et al. (2000). Then, it also found in SE Turkiye. Its distribution is in from Antilebanon region of Lebanon and Israel to SE Turkiye. The scorpion is known in this area as a relatively common species.
There are some wrong information among people and one of them is that venom of scorpions increases with respect to tail (metasoma) segment number:) It is funny, since all scorpions have normally six tail segments.
M. nigrocintus is distinguished from other Mesobuthus scorpions by its very long 5th tail segment. This part can be seen on Workshop photograph.

Ahmet Hocam,

Hi Ahmet,

Congratulations on a first for TN. A fantastic shot of this Scorpion who seems to be posing for you. His face body and tail are wonderful - I love the patterns. Good natural colrs which remind me of a crab spider. He shows up so well on the rocks.
