[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a puffball - lycoperdon perlatum. It's edible, when gleba is white, you can cook and eat it, but to me it's not a choice. When it is old, there is a hole on the top of the cap, they spored out from the hole.

There is look alike that named stump puffball -Lycoperdon pyriforme. It's poisonous, cause some gastric problems. Stump puffball grows on only stumps, logs...

I can see you take advantage of you compact cam. Nice textures, colours and lights. Again the DOF is just a bit short. This makes that the contour of the fungus is slightly blured. Do you have aperture priority or manual mode in your Sanyo? Thanks for sharing, I added to Puffball theme.

Wonderfully photo not a point of few that I would prefer seeing something of the stipe would have been nice. A little more DOF would have also helped.
