[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
On my Turkey travels:
In ancient Olba (Diocaesarea; today's Uzuncaburç, near Silifke; see "Map") I met this cute Caucasian squirrel (Rodentia; Sciuridae; Sciurus anomalus; Kaukasisches Eichhörnchen).
From Wikipedia I learned that there are three species of Sciurus in the Old World (S. vulgaris, S. lis, S. anomalus) but 24 of them in the New World. The presented species is distributed in all of Anatolia, Caucasus and the Near East down to the Persian Gulf. There is no overlap of occurrence with the Red squirrel (S. vulgaris) which occupies much of Europe and Northern Asia.

Technical stuff: I used the four/thirds camera Panasonic DMC GF1 with a 400 mm equivalent tele lens. The picture is not perfect; among other things I made the mistake of setting it to 800 ISO. It took some fiddling around in PS to take out the noise without loosing sharpness.

Hi Dietrich,

a kind of wonderful,
You have captured a beautiful shot.
We would like to see TRAMEM said.

Hi MF Dietrich,

You made good use of this wonderful opportunity. Capturing one of this pretty squirel in such wonderful psture is a dream come true. The shallow DOF has created a wonderful blurr green background, which isolates the squirel well.
TFS and have a nice night MF!
