Last sunny days of the year....Another boring office day break...

I was chasing after cute little beetle moving very slowly towards the warmer upper parts of a wall. I haven't noticed even that it hit slightly to a thread, followed by the miliseconds speed attack of the Agelenid spider.

As i said events happened so quickly so i dont know how i pushed the shutter in time. This is the moment the spider was preparing to return till prey became still, after the spider bit the prey even not being actually stuck -just a touch-, moved one centimeter back, put it down within a second. You can see the honey colored haemolymph just beginning to ooze...

I accept this a lucky shut, considering the sudden coming and quick event which i watched though the viewfinder. It is rather like watching a fast forwarded 8 legged monster movie!

The round rear space is the opening of the funnel like 'nest' of the spider. This type of webs, characteristic of the family, may be familiar to many house wives having trouble with hobo and house spiders at their homes.

Textrix denticulata is a common speciesin Turkey, but not generally seen indoors. In contrast, juveniles are often noticed with their minute webs fastened to ground by windows and doors, though which they are blown in, during spring.

Hi Umit.
Excellent picture of breathtaking scene. I like great DOF adn excellent details of the image. Web reproduction is amazing and so nice as reflection of the spider and its prey. Well done and kind regards.

A dramatic shot Ümit, capturing the predator-prey duo perfectly in their drama. Your POV and DOF were ideal, rendering the pair perfectly in focus in spite of the low shutter speed, getting a dash of help from the fill-in flash, no doubt. Good job indeed!

Hello Umit,

Very nice picture of this spider in its web. Excellent sharpness. Very good composition. Light and colours are good too.

Çok güzel bir çekim. elinize sağlık.

Ümit bey yine enfes olmuş ellerinize sağlık.

Wow!! Great shot!! Reminds me of Shelob in Lord of the Rings. The position of the spider and prey, the web of the spider, all make this a wonderful picture. I think it wud have been even better if a little more details were visible and the focus is also little bit on the softer side,.. but in total the picture is awsum. Great work.

Hi Umit,
excellent, just excellent this picture. Such spiders are notoriously difficult to photograph but you mastered it all, composition, dark colours, DOF, etc. Wonderful!
Best regards
