[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Recently, I posted some herptils, butterflies, damselfly and bat. For 8th post, I came back to birds again.
Today's post is Panurus biarmicus (Linné, 1758) - Bıyıklı Baştankara [TR], Bearded Tit [EN] (PASSERIFORMES: TIMALIIDAE). Its Turkish vernacular names refers its moustache, whereas English name shows its beard. Of course, this tit has moustache, not beard. However, the bird on photograph is a subadult. Moustache disappears for young and females, only adult males has a moustache (see male in my workshop), similar to our species:)
P. biarmicus ranges in temperate zones of Europe and Asia and most of them dont migrate and live and breed in reed beds. They feed on insects and seeds. Their size is 15-16 cm in lenght. The bill is short, but the tail is long and graduated. Latin name of the genus already shows its graduated tail. The prefix "pan" comes from old Greek with meaning "all, together" as like "urus, uro, ura" with meaning "tail". Whereas the name "biarmicus" comes from Latin and it refers the moustache.
Another shot is uploaded in workshop (click here for see).
I hope you will like these shots. Thanks for visiting.

Hi Ahmet,

The Bearded Tit is a new bird for me. Your notes and workshops are wonderful - that male really does have a moustache! This young one has such a sweet looking face - looks nothing like the adult. Beautiful face and nice soft-looking plummage that you show in fine detail and with nice colors. I love the diagonal composition.

hello ahmet,
nice capture of Panurus biarmicus, this bird with a moustache makes a good capture, you have handeled exposure well in difficult lighting comditions, well composed shot,
tfs & regards

Hello Ahmet

What a lovely little bird.
You have captured it well in the frame, and you have also showed it well.
I do not recall seeing other birds with this beautiful colour of plumage and the detail is excellent. It almost looks like fur.
You have managed very good eye contact and a super POV.
Nicely done.

Hi Ahmet,

Good focus and detail, the feathers look as if they could be soft to the touch like fur. The colours of the perch and sky complement the bird well. It is so interesting to see things on TN that we would not otherwise see.

Günaydin Ahmet,
A great capture of P. biarmicus, a species that I have been longing to photgraph.
This is caught from a great POV in a fine and typical pose on the reed. It is not easy as they are very active: I hear them more than I see them with their 'ping, ping' sounds.
Your other shots of this species are marvellous too.
Tesekkür ederim dostum,

Hello Ahmet,
This is a lovely bird that I've only seen closely once but I've heard its lovely song many times in the reeds here. You've managed to get two fantastic captures, both very sharp and showing the little bird posing so nicely. Lovely colours too and it stands out very well against the sky. Well done!
TFS and kind regards, Ulla

Hello Ahmet,

Your photo is a fine portret of he bird and in the same time has an excelent composition. The very few elements of the image helps viewer concentrate on the main subject. There is such a fine match between bird's plumage and the plant.

Thank you for sharing,

Marhaba Ahmet,

This is the first time for me to see this Tit specie. Great capture with nice colors & detail. Well done ... Ahmet. TFS.

Salam Akhi

Bol fotolu günler dilerim..

Hi Ahmet,
Excellent capture of this subadult Bearded Tit. These are diffucult to capture as they don't keep steady for a moment and usually you find them behind the leaves. Excellent pose and composition, sharp interesting details, bright natural colours and natural BG.

Beautiful capture of this tit. Superb composition. Excellent POV. Good focus. Very nice colour tones. I like very much the picture you uploaded in the WS too, especially the one with the female.

Salam Ahmet. I hope you are doing fine in this month of Syawal. I like the way your notes are presented in true academic style. The bird is very well perched nicely captured from below. The sharpness and details are so pristine and I like the framing as well. Really good work and thanks again for sharing. Best regards. Jusni
