A very small bushy shrub, usually only a few feet tall, but occasionally up to 15ft. Flowers cover the bush in spring and summer, followed by white and blue-purple fruit.
The common myrtle Myrtus communis, also called true myrtle, is widespread in the Mediterranean region and is commonly cultivated.
Small edible blue purple berry. The leaves are very aromatic and the plant has a number of medicinal uses.
