Twin spot Fritillary

Turkish Name: Çift Noktalı Brentis Kelebeği.

Distribution in Turkey: In general, observed in Turkey's east and north-east..

Distribution in the world: South Europe, Anterior and Central Asia, South Ural, the steppen regions of West Siberia, Altai and West Sayan Mauntains.

Living Area: Can live up to the heights of 1500 meters from sea level. Grassy meadows below timberline, often adjacent to wooded areas.

Flight time: Late May to mid July in most places, but late June-late July at higher elevations in the northeast.

Food Plants of the caterpillar: Filipendula ulmaria and Violet (viola) and feeding on species develops.

Description-Notes: Type locality, Vienna-Austria. Similar to Marbled Fritillary , but two rows of black spots running along outer margin of each wing are uniform in size. Receive recognition in the form of two rows of black speckles on the back wings.Female is larger and paler orange, with heavier spotting. Also look for two rows of black spots and orange and cream bands on hindwing.

Wingspan: 42-45 mm long.

•The Marbled Fritillary - Brenthis daphne (Bergstrasser, 1780)
•The Lesser Marbled Fritillary - Brenthis ino(Rottemburg,1775)

Both have a place in heaven as well as superior in the world of underground.

The Fritillaries are such a colorful and intricately marked type of butterfly, as documented by this particular specimen. You have done a fine job of photographing this little beauty. You could not ask for any finer detail while the clean BG keeps your focus on the pretty butterfly.
