[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This tulip like flower is a colchicum. The Colchicums are group of bulbs in the group of fall crocus (cigdem). Generally, these are larger in bloom, crocus-like in appearance, and share similar growth requirements to the other crocus described. What makes them differ from the crocus is the stamen count and their timing. Crocus have three stamens while colchicums have six. Colchicums send out leaves in the spring which dies down in the summer, but they blossom in September, when virtually all other plants went asleep! Around Ankara, where I live, it is exceptionally the only flower that contributes the diversity of autumn colors.
