I had plenty of opportunity today to record "colours in the sky".

Can you tell whether we are looking at a sunset or a sunrise? Previously I have always indicated what the shot was. Nevertheless some folks would comment about a "sunrise" when it was a sunset etc. So be my guest ;)

PP1: scaled to 30%; cropped 50 pixels on the right to meet 800 pixel limit. No colour adjustments. Then:
PP2: sharpening; < I screwed up and posted PP1 here; PP2 is in WS >

Hi Jay,
Setting, another fine seascape with great colors, and detail. Keep them coming.

PS Don't BS, LOL

nice sun whatever. composition is good.

Hi Jay,

This post is much better then the workshop which is overkill in USM.
Nicely captured and well done on the composition.
O.k. I'll take a stab/play the game, sunrise. ;) Clouds, tree and water.

I'd call this one a beautiful sunRISE!!
Fabulous colors!!
GREAT composition!!
Creative balance!!
Nicely focussed "black trees" that frame
the light from the rising sun.

What a wonderful start to a NEW day!!

Ok - I'm guessing it's morning.
Why? Because of the blue sky above: it looks like the last time I got up early to get the sunrise!! And the trees look like they've been asleep for the last 12 hours!! No - just a guess!
Good shot tho Jay,

Hi Jay
Is this shot facing into the cove or toward Bald Rock? If Bald Rock it's a sunrise and if this shot is facing into the cove it's a sunset.

formerly from PEI eh
oh yeah it 9:51 pm here

Hi J

Waxing is my call. It is very elementary my friend. You don't catch an old sleuth like me that easily. Following the evidence at had as provided by your “Early Bird catches Sea Smoke” it is the same bay area with the same tree line, but an inverse view. Now if that was a sunrise then it only speaks for reason that this is also a sunrise, unless someone has turned the planet around (chuckle). Maybe you wanted us to unravel the question on different merits, but you left the back door open so I had to take my chance and sneak through. However, I’ve burned my fingers once or twice that way.

Nice shot though with great play of light. I like the composition with the tree and the dark area framing the right and to a degree providing some scale. The colours are rich and the details are clear throughout the range of the DOF. You have taken good care that the horizon is level as we see far too many sloping shorelines on TN.

Well done and TFS.
Anticipating regards

Hi Jay

Another wonderful post!
The view here is superb and the colors are most charming!
I also like the composition here a lot, with the nice waves in the FG, the beautiful treeon the right and right across it that "lobe" of land covered also with trees (the two dark patches on each side of the photo) and, surely, the wonderful sun (which i belive is setting ;)...i could be wrong, though).
The exposure is great, too, as well and the perspective.
If you want a 100% honest opinion, i prefer your first version...the one from the WS is a bit too sharpenned for my taste :)

Anyway, great wark again :)
Bravo and TFS

Ricardo

Beautiful landscape Jay with wonderful colors in this backlighting aesthetically very pleasant.
I love the captured point of view very well combined with the elected framing for the presentation.
Personally I like both versions, the original one something more soft and the very sharp (perhaps too much) workshop... I believe that an intermediate option would be fantastic.
A cordial greeting from Buenos Aires... Ricardo

well Jay I like this backlight photo,
the quality is very good. The landsape composition is quite good. My English is bad, but I like the photo job here and Jay this is Trek Nature. To learn of each other photo's, opinions and critiques. Thank you Jay.

Hello Jay , Fantastic landscape shot , beauty warme colours good compositie good job, Greetings good Weekend Teunie .

I had to Fav. this one ... sunset or sunrise??? Matters little.
This is a great register.
Well composed & presented.
Best regards & a happy new year.

Precioso paisaje. Muy bellos detalles con esa luz que va desapareciendo por el horizonte.
Magnífica presentación amigo.
Un saludo, JL.

Great shot Jay. Might it be Long lake at the end of Dentith Rd. by the old pump house? It is a sunset, the sun being at that end of the lake. Have photos from the same local.
Good spot to catch sunsets.

Hello Jay,
A peaceful scenery, and skillfully captured!
Beautiful colours in the sky and the reflection is no less, lovely mornikng atmosphere...
Image is well composed with a fine feeling of depth, and the silhouetted trees is an attractive element!
