This shot is dedicated to my fellow Canucks who like me are enduring the arrival of OUR real winter...

Since the temperature was only semi-arctic today, I ventured out to break the cabin-fever.
And sure enough the föreshöre offer up some möre! ...

Silke wondered if the röcks would be dangeröus when we have a "frözen öcean". The answer is YES!

In this shot we see seaweed in the f/g. The white stuff on it is ice, rather than snow. The tide is out so it is frozen seawater, as are the white caps on the rocks. In the b/g we see what the frozen shoreline looks like from a distance:
a long white line against the darker shore.

This shot was taken at sunset time. The cloud in the b/g is a large snowladen bank that stretched from West to East...
We are looking East. Big Island is on the right edge.

Hi Jay,
and yet another reminder where we live, the frozen land of Canada. You have a nice low point of view angle for this shot and the ice covered rocks look somewhat like pyramids which really adds good visual interest, thank you for posting this one. Bob

The details here really allow one to appreciate the treacherous condition of the rocks at the ocean's rim. For all that I envy you your beautiful home, I am glad I needn't worry about slipping into the freezing ocean while I am out looking for the perfect shot.
Great colours and details, superb POV and dof

Shivvvvver, Shakkkkke, Chatttttering of teeth here.......
LOOKS cold............likely FEELS cold, but a lovely photo to celebrate WINTER........

I liked the point of view on this one, and the overall composition of the shot, which encompasses distance and foreground in a natural way!!

Good one!!
Now, off for a shot of brandy to warm up your innards!!

Hi Jay,
If the rocks were orange they would look like corn candy.
Very different capture, well composed, detailed and colored, I like the low light. This is a very nice posting, thanks.

Hello Jay,
This scenery looks like it was wrapped in plastic; the effect is most interesting. I think that I have never seen something similar... Early lightning is beautiful and so are those tones of colors. Well seen!

Hello Jay,

They look like some really big Christmas hats :)))

Great shot, amazing ice on the rocks. Lovely composition and great POV. You have captured lots of interesting details here

Hi Jay.
Excellent work with flash. I like how you have illuminated nearest rocks. Very effective decision. Idea of your picture is great as well as its realization. Very expressive view, perfect detailed, sharpened and coloured. Bravo and TFS.

Hello Jay,
Cool shot..again!
Very well composed shot with excellent use of flash to fill the FG, and balance the exposure. Great FG detail and..frigid colors :)
I like the sky that has parted for you as well. Now when you get a shot of the sea parting, you'll be famous ;-}}
Very well done.

Really good shot - like the way the sloping cloud edge is mirrored by the slope of the rocks, plus the subject itself is unusal and therefore fascinating.

Love your notes. You are quite a character.Love the "style".
Had never seen a "frozen rock" prior to this. Quite an education.
Truely, this is a great register.
Best regards,

Hello Jay,
Very nice picture of these rocks on one side and with the atmospheric front on the other. Great moody colours and nicely combined flash and natural light.
Best greetings,

Great shot Jay,
I though I saw you out there Sunday evening down by the shore shooting.

Hi Jay. This is a type of scene i have not seen as yet in my life, so it is very interesting to see how cold it can be some other places. Good POV clarity and colours. TFS. Murray.
