[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
I think it was this Black Capped Chickadee that found a caterpillar to eat. A ripe green caterpillar. He spent a good 5 minutes eating it. This is one of only a handful of summer and winter birds we have in this area. In the winter this bird will nest with as many as 10 others in a single tree hole to keep warm.

It is the state bird of Maine and Massachusetts.
The song of the Black-capped Chickadee is one of the most complex vocalizations of all animals, acting as a contact call, an alarm call, to identify an individual, or to indicate recognition of a particular flock.
They may cache food in hundreds of different sites, recalling those locations and retrieving food up to 28 days later.
A group of chickadees are collectively known as a "banditry" and a "dissimulation" of chickadees.

Hello Trevor,
A nice shot of this chickadee who appears to have just taken a bath and hasn't dried off completely. I really like the eye contact with that ever sought after catchlight. White balance is perfect as the color shades of white, gray, black and beige look true and natural. Focus is sharp and you managed to capture good DOF with your f/5.6 aperture.

Hello Trevor

One of your best shots, excellent and very
beautiful photo of the Black-capped Chickadee
in its expressive pose, with fine POV and framing,
beautiful light, great ficus, sharpness, and details,
the catch-light render the eye-contact more beautiful, TFS
