Gorilla gorilla
Endangered
The gorilla is a shy and, for the most part, inoffensive vegetarian -- a far cry from the fearsome, aggressive creature depicted in films and comic books. Only when provoked or threatened does it rise to an erect position and beat its cupped hands against its chest in an attempt to intimidate intruders. Gorillas are the largest and most powerful of the apes. Adult males reach an average height of 150-170 cm and weigh from 135 to 230 kg. Females are smaller, but both male and female are tremendously powerful, possessing the ability to tear branches from bushes and uproot small trees. They spend their days quietly, either in a leisurely search for food, or resting in the warm sun.

Unfortunately, these animals, native to the equatorial regions of Africa, are diminishing in number due, in part, to illegal hunting and advancing civilization. Also, laws prohibiting, rather than just controlling, the capture and sale of gorillas need to be passed and enforced in all countries within the species’ range.

Looks like something straight out of a movie.
Great capture!
This one has a softness to the focus, but in this case I think it adds to the shot.
Very nice!

Thanks,

Dave

Salut Jean Paul
I have to agree this one looks like right out of the movies. Great portrait work with wonderful focus and lovely colors.

Bonjour Jeanpaul,
Nice potrait of this gorilla. I like his/her facial expression. May need to make some color adjustment, to make it more natural [unless you really want to present it this way]. Is it scanned from your printed photo?

Hi there big, big monkey man. Sorry JeanPaul I meant the gorilla, not you.
I like the quality of this shot, although maybe a little soft it still show this animal in all its majestic beauty. One always tend to think gorillas are black the silverbacks often tend to display this brownish colour, especially on their heads.
Good work my friend and TFS.

Loot

Merci,
Claudine

Hi Jeanpaul.
Outstanding portrait of this great animal. It looks like portrait of King Kong from old (first) film "King Kong". Very nice captured moment, expression of eyes, cropping and artistic colour palette and contrast. Perfect done and TFS.

Bonjour Jean-Paul !
valerie.

Great portrait of King Kong. Very well captured. TFS

A strange effect for an interesting image my friend with great POV and framing.

I like it a lot: composition, framing, DOF, focus, POV, sharpness, color, lighting, background, notes.

I don't like it: nothing.

I have read that the bottom is produced by a glass, but it has generated a great composition.
Best wishes... Ricardo

They are awesome! So big!
