hello, thank for all your viewings and critiques
for my yesterday's Snowy Owl posting,

few postings ago i had a image of a Snowy Owl
that i titled « Snow Ball », and here is today
with another title, this time « Snow Man »
(bonhomme de neige)

this image was sho in JPEG format, ISO200
and i doubled the zoom to be closer to the subject

from the « Hinterland Who's Who » website :

« Snowy Owl

This bird

- has disks of stiff feathers around its eyes
that reflect sound waves to its ear openings
- must capture the equivalent of 7 to 12 mice
a day to meet its food requirements
-is active during the day as well as at night,
unlike most owls
- moves to sit on patches of snow or ice as the
ground becomes bare with the approach of spring

Signs and sounds

Snowy Owls are rather shy and usually silent,
unless nesting. They will hiss, scream, or snap
their bill at those intruding on their territories,
and will dive at, or even strike, human intruders
at their nests. During the breeding season, the male
advertises his presence on the territory with loud
hooting and will attack any intruding male. »

Salut Asbed,
Un autre de tes belles photo de harfang. On à l'impression qu'il t'attendais. sur cette photo le harfang ressemble a une poupée russe. Belle composition eu beau contacte visuel.
Félicitation,
Roger

You have certainly found a friend in this owl...I told you! That last one with it in the air and in JPG which is what I do all the time by the way...and th4e not using the extender..all those things and then you have this follow up with a very appropriate title..You have a winning world series...Very nice Asbed!
Bob

Hi Asbed,
that sure is a beautiful looking little snowman you offer us today.I like the way the bird's talons show up on the snow and the mellow look he has overall.Your point of view is also nice as it appears you were down on one knee to photo him and your exposure was spot on as well. The only thing I see that looks a little off is it looks like you may of over sharpen the image some.A lovely shot and I thank you for sharing this wonderful creature. Hallo Asbed
You could not have chosen a more appropriate title for your posting. What a delightful view. This guy seems as he was just posing for you and your camera. Standing up straight all prim and proper. A beautiful reminder of winter and very pleasant to view image. Congratulations! Your efforts are now well rewarded. I am impressed at how well the details of the dark nails are seen on the photo. It stands out well against the white of the snow. Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards
Anna

Perfect title Asbed. He really does look like a little "Frosty". I like the composition with him standing very still like that in the middle of the snowy field. Light is good. The owl is in good sharp detail, the trees seem a little "pixely" though. I'm not sure what would cause that. I don't understand your "doubling of the zoom" by switching to jpeg and wonder if that may have something to do with it.

Thanks, John

Hi Asbed,

Jane says it all. the owl looks like a snowman but when i saw this picture my first toughs where the same.
Very good capture and pov with natural colors.
I love it.

Regards Gert

hello Asbed,
HA HA ! It really looks like a snowman. Beautiful picture. I liked the way you have composed it with ample space in the frame. The exposure, focus, sharpness and details are spot on. Excellent POV. Thanks for the share,
Smitha.

Hi Asbed

Ha ha (lol), that's a great pose, these are crazy owls and some of teh posts from Canada this northern winter have been very comical. Yes he looks liek a snowman except for one detail, those massive tallons.
Great shot, fantastic composition, well done.

Chris

Hi Asbed
I like your picture very much. This owl looks really like a snowman. Good composition and exposition. The background little bit spoilt, but I understand that it was difficult to come closer to the bird.
Thanks for sharing

Hola Asbed.
Great image here my friend. Looks like this Owl want to play in the snow with You. Fine pose and great colors. BG is also nice with all those trees.
Luis52.

This is a great shot, your caption really adds to it! The snowy owl really does look like a snowmane perched so stiffly in the snow, you've don a good job with the composition here, I really like the low POV!

Are you sure it's not a snowman. You just painted it up to look like an owl. Fun image to look at. TFS

Hi Asbed,
mhh i think i´m having troubles.. i don´t know if is my internet or my monitor, but i´m looking at some pics that seems to have some pixels... i see some here over the snow, but now i´m not so sure.
Above all, the picture is great, I like the POV: the owl close to the right side like watching everything is really good. Even the light is good, i know that is not so easy to take pics with lots of snow sorrounding the objects.
TFS
have a nice day!
Brenda

Hello Asbed,
Indeed, it does look like a snowman standing in isolation in the snowy field. This is such a beautiful Owl and you've focussed in on it very nicely here. I like the forest in the background breaking up the white. Excellent capture!
Many thanks, Ulla

Salut Asbed,

Unreal! Who knew you could just find a gorgeous owl hanging out in the open like that?? This is a perfect capture - subject pleasingly off-center and I like that you kept the trees somewhat in focus to give us the full experience of his environment.
Penny

Hi Asbed,
