Hello friends, today it is my 6th TN
anniversary and for that occasion I have
a photo with 6 Snow Buntings in-flight !

This photos was shot in the last days of
autumn of 2008 at 15:39:29 (almost 16:00)
o'clock and at that hour that time of the
year for us here in Canada it became almost
early evening, and the early evening light
I think it is beautiful but it was a poor
light for my compact camera.

Nikon Coolpix P60
1/640s f/4.5 ISO100
32mm (35mm eq:180mm).

Thanks for your critiques and encouragements
I had for my photos the last 6 years.

from the All About Birds website

« Appropriately named, the Snow Bunting
is a bird of the high Arctic and snowy
winter fields. Even on a warm day,
the mostly white plumage of a bunting
flock evokes the image of a snowstorm.

The male Snow Bunting returns to
its high Arctic breeding grounds in
early April, when temperatures can still
dip as low as -30° C (-22° F) and snow still
covers most of the ground. The female does
not return until four to six weeks later.

Early arriving Snow Bunting males set up
and defend territories that include good
nesting sites. They will still come together
in flocks to forage, and usually roost in
loose groups of from 30 to 80 birds. »

I have a similar photo, the same day & time,
the same place, with the same species of birds,
but this time 10 birds in-flight that I will
post it only at my 10th TN anniversary !

Merci

Asbed

Hi Asbed,
Sorry for my delay, but better later than never, so congratulations for your 6th anniversary! Great shot in the name of number 6 - I can imagine the image with even more minimalism, without the mountains at the bottom background. However, a nice photo every way. :-) Bravo! And thanx for your 6-year contribution on TN.
Best regards, László
