Initiation aux oiseaux du Québec par la couleur

Present throughout Canada during the nesting period, the Red-winged Blackbird nests in all the southern regions of Quebec and the Maritimes, and increasingly spends its winters in the northern United States. It prefers to settle in open and humid places, such as ditches, reed mace marshes and stream or river banks, but will also nest in drier terrain, in pasture and cultivated fields. Its diet varies with the seasons, but it feeds mainly on insects and cultivated seeds, including corn. Besides, it is a menace for farmers who find their fields ravaged by this bird. But in spite of everything, it still does them some great services, such as attacking the insects that destroy their newly-planted crops. The Red-winged Blackbird reaches 19 to 26 cm in length.

Fantastic POV, Donald. I've been trying to get a shot like that of the red-winged blackbird forever. Still have not succeeded.
The black on the wings seems a tad hazy, and there is a bit of OE on the cattail, but the pose and the presentation of the two red spots on the wings more than make up for the small nits.
To me, that is an exciting picture. : )
TFS. : )

On ne se lasse pas de photographier le carouge. Sans doute parce qu'il est un peu acrobate.
Je me réserve le privilège de l'ajouter à mes favorites. Félicitations pour cette magnifique photo: couleurs, pose, composition, etc.etc.

hello Donald,
Beautiful shot, I love the pose of this nice bird. Excellent colours and illumination, you managed very well the exposure time. The blurred and almost uniform BG works really well.

Great shot. Lovely detail on the blackbird. Nice background - well blurred and subtle pleasing colours. I would have tried to darken the catail by using burning and cloning.
Best regards,

Hi Donald,

Wow, this is a very beautiful picture with a nice and dynamic composition and POV. The colors are brilliant and contrast is great. The blurry BG compliments the shot well! Maybe the frame is a bit too sophisticated but it doesn't bother me! A really great work of art!
