Hello friends, Miss Mallard Duck
swimming on tumultuous water.

1/2000s, f/1.8, ISO100,
85mm (35mm eq:127mm).

- Mallard Duck
- Canard Colvert
- Anas platyrhynchos

from New Hampshire Public Television website

« Most of the mallard's diet is made
up of plants. It eats the seeds of
grasses and sedges and the leaves,
stems, and seeds of aquatic plants.

It occasionally eats insects and
crustaceans and mollusks, especially
when it is young. It prefers to forage
in water that is less than 16 inches
deep so it can duck its head down and
reach plants at the bottom.

The mallard sometimes forages on
farmland for grains like rice,
corn, oats, wheat, and barley. »

Merci

Asbed

Hello Asbed,
We are familiar, watching this specie's close up picture. But today your thinking is different and it's really nice.In a rough river a lonely duck floating!Nice composition. Tormented river added an extra look in this picture.Well focus on subject.Like it.
Thanks for your contribution here in TN,
Kind regards,
Srikumar

Bonjour Asbed,

La capture de la puissance du courant est un atout ŕ la composition. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails et les couleurs du canard colvert femelle qui se déplace sur l'eau. La bonne luminosité rehausse les couleurs de l'image. Bonne journée.

Pierre

Hello Asbed,

Hello Asbed,
I'm glad I'm not in the position of the Mallard here. Nice photo in beautiful natural colours, good sharpness and an excellent composition.
Enjoy the weekend,
Peter

Ciao Asbed, great capture of lovely mallard duck in difficult situation, splendid light, wonderful colors and excellent clarity, very well done, my friend, have a good week end, ciao Silvio

Very brave of you to post a rough water shot. Calm usually wins out. I think this should have been a portrait and not a landscape. The dark water leaves too much negative space for him to swim into. Focus is right on the duck. I like the action of the waves and the mood. TFS Trevor

Hello Asbed,

Hi Asbed,
Not a bad photo at all, proper exposure on brighter and darker parts also, but for me the duck is too small compared to the size of the frame. More appropriate cropping should help to lead the viewer's eye to the subject instead of the water. Just a personal opinion, though.
Best regards, László

Hi Asbed.
What an impressive dynamic scene. It is a great creative godsend. Excellent colour palette, combination of light speckles and shadows, nice tack sharp details and pleasant smoothness of edges. My compliments and TFS.
Alexei.
