The Osprey (wingspan of 145-170 cm for a weight of 1.4 to 1.7 kg) cannot be mistaken for another bird : light coloured with bent-back wings, an expressive head with strongly contrasting markings, and, above all, a fishing method of plunging feet first, the bird disappearing in a fount of water as it reaches for its prey.
