Someone had told me about that park that could receive over 200 different species in a year. The park is 30 minutes drive from my house so I decided to have a look at it this morning. It is in dead a beautiful park that will be (I'm sure )very productive in the spring. So we had a chance at a few different species but the one that did came out ( for my eye's ) was that Great Blue Heron. Why did I like it ? well it is not capture in a traditional way , not in the water ,not fishing and not flying ,it is simply standing in that tree's and cleanning is feathers.
Audubon:
Nesting :3-7 pale greenish-blue eggs on a shallow platform of sticks lined with finer materil, usually placed in a tree but sometimes on the ground or concealed in a reedbed..Nest in colonies.

Hi Michel,
Really neat and sharp image.
True, a different look of a heron..With those wet feathers, we can notice his body's real "volume", surprisingly small...

Hi Michel,
I think you have captured a Great Blue Wereheron on the eve of a full Moon. Fine detail and exposure along with a great POV. Nicely done.

Bonsoir Michel,

Une belle image de cet héron bleu, la photo a une bonne composition, netteté et de jolies couleurs. Bonne soirée.

Pierre

This illustrates the amazing bends those necks are capable of. It is an interesting pose. I enjoy the feet! It is amazing that they can balance that large body with those spindly little legs. It is interesting that you managed to get a point of view where there is no background clutter.

Hello Michel

A wonderful close up of this Great Blue heron. The pose is interesting ,as it tucks it's long neck into it's body. The plumage detail is excellent.Very good focus and sharpness.TFS

Hello Michel,

This is a very difficult shot that you've captured with great skills. The composition is very good! You used the rule of thirds as guidance and placed the heron along the right third of the picture allowing for plenty of space in front of it. I guess I would have also allowed for more space above the heron's head. Normally this composition is excellent but probably the curved shape of the heron's neck gives me the illusion that the top edge of the picture presses the heron's head down. The plain background is perfect to isolate the subject from the surroundings but it also can create problems. Because of the backlight I would have expected lots of chromatic aberration where the contrast is stronger but I can't find any in your picture. Your new lens must be very good and probably very expensive.
Another difficulty you encountered was the exposure as the sensor of your camera might have been easily fooled by the bright background but it seems you overcome all these problems. You did a very good job! Thank you!

With Friendly Regards,
Eddie

Michel, very very interesting shot and lovely focus. See the eyes it tells a lot of stories. Great shot. thanks for sharing. Ganesh

Hi Michel,
Good and sharp but lacks a bit in colour. Probably due to the bland cloudy sky behind. Perhaps a little +exposure compensation would have helped.
Well done,
Peter

Excellent focus and notations. It is a superb picture Michel. Not sure if one could ask for better!

Hola Michel.

Bonne composition contre l'arrière plan blanc. Merci pour le partage. Dan

Wonderful vertical composition with great details. The white background works perfectly here. And I have to say my favorite parts are the long legs and feet. Wonderful!

Preciosa presentación de este ave con un excelente encuadre. El fondo es muy adcuado.
Saludos desde España Michel.
