Minor peak - Picoides pubescens - Downy Woodpecker smallest of peak-wood!
White back, nozzle shorter than the longueurr of the head, mottled black wings of white, only stains red behind the head for the male, black tail with white feathers on each side mottled of black.
It is most common and the least savage of our peaks.
It attends the stations of food daily where one presents seeds and tallow to him.
It does not have any specific preference, it excavates all the types of mangers and picore all the types of seeds.

The minor peak does not migrate, it is resident all the year!
It is found everywhere or there are trees, forests, parks, orchards, city, banlieu and countryside.
It is very curious, it seeks the origin of a noise instead of running away itself like the other birds, it climbs then in the tree.
It plays several instruments: connect digs, shingles of roofs, post of telephone, sheet roof and metal turn.

In winter, it seeks the company of the titmouses and of sitelles, together they débarassent the trees of their parasites.

They is manufacturers of apartments for theblue ones and troglodytes; it makes a nest each spring, another to spend the winter to the heat and others as the need is felt...
The male tambourine to express its love with his/her future partner!
Together, they dig their nest with the lower face of a branch.
The female lays 4 to 6 white eggs there that both will brood in turn.
The small ones are nourished by pulp regurgitation of insects.
Brooded raised, the family disperses all the end of the summer, each peak carrying out an independent life.

Bonjour Jean-Paul,

Superbe photo d'un Pic Mineur mâle! Tout est parfait! Le background, le pov, le dof, les couleurs, etc... On voit bien aussi les petits poils à la basse du bec que les anglophones caractérisent par "downy".

Félicitations et TFS!

Michel

Salut Jean-Paul,
My favourite bird again! Lovely shot, beautiful detail and colour, and excellent flash control. I like the format but I might have been tempted to crop a little from the left, just to de-centralise the bird. That's just my preference though, a lovely shot.
Regards,
Adrian

Hi JeanPaul
Excellent capture of this beautiful little peak. Looking at the amount of bark that has been stripped from the tree it seems like this guy was rather busy.
I like your composition, although it would be nice to see a little less cropping on the top and bottom (only my opinion). The colours are stunning and the DOF is great showing nice sharp details. The BG and the exposure are also very good.
Well done and TFS.
Regards
Loot

Hi Jeanpaul,
Very well done again, with excellent sharpness, exposure, detail and colors..
Not sure about the wide frame though..
Very well done.

Hello Jeanpaul,
Great shot! The quality is really good here. I like the POV too, I just think vertical framing would've been much better here.
Overall, very well done on this one!

Wow! great capture,he looks very inquisitive little bird.
Excellent colour and detail...I also like the texture on the barks...
Well done.

Bonjour Jean-Paul

Hello Jeanpaul, this is a very nice shot. The colours and focus are excellent and a very nice moment too. I wonder if a portrait format shot would have been more suitable? It's a lovely image.
