The valin Mounts
The Solid mass of the Valin Mounts Located immediately at the North-East of Chicoutimi, the solid mass of the Valin mount has an altitude generally higher than 600 Mr. Composé of crystalline rocks and in particular of anorthosite, this high plateau is in some kind during solid mass of Laurentides of the north of Quebec; those bordering on both sides the compartments with the depressed relief of Saguenay and the basin of the lake Midsummer's Day. At the structural point of view, the area of the solid mass of the Valin mount shows the same boreal characteristics appreciably as the outlying area of Laurentides. It is especially the individualization of the solid mass above the surrounding grounds which confers a regional identity to him. This fact appears more clearly by the contrast offered by the vicinity of the low-grounds of the Saguenay-Lake-Saint-Jean, producing an effect of marked relief on the south-western side of the unit. The forest cover of this solid mass is made up in major part of fir trees and black spruces thus determining its boreal character. Recent forest cuts appreciably modified the natural character of a great part of this area supporting regeneration in intolerant leafy trees. Fauna associated with the presence with the settlements conifériens and the water levels which are there are the moose, the black bear, various species of animals with fur of which beaver, as well as the grouse of savannas, the omble of fountain, etc. The Valin Mounts are one of the places of predilection of Joseph (Jossim) to take his photographs.

Salut Jean-Paul ! Superbe ce paysage avec ces belles montagnes. Bien vu et bien réalisé. J'aurais coupé un peu de ciel afin do donner un effet plus "panoramique" Merci.

Mario

Hi Jeanpaul,

I love photos that impart a feeling of wide open wilderness, and this one does that. Knowing myself, I cannot leave well enough alone and have to see what other options are available through the magic of Photoshop. To my eye there is not a spot in the this picture where the viewer can happily stop and look around. The foreground is very dark and the mountains sort of melt into the sky. So I played with it in a workshop. Because I have many images with the same exposure problem, I like to practice. : )

Hello Jeanpaul,
Great panoramic view of the near forest and distant Valin Mounts. So this is the place where Joseph lives? Or just his favorite place to shoot??
Well done!
