Hello friends, the title should be
« American Woodcock's flight when she has chicks »
but it was not enough place allowed of that much characters

--------------------------------
--- Now I will start with one thing ---
--------------------------------

I know on the bird I put my logo, That thing
I will do it only for Woodcock and grouse photos,
because some persons (hunters) they are taking
my woodcock photos removing my name when
it is in the corner of the image and posting
in their Facebook pages.

I am not against people want to share the photo
or post it in they Facebook pages, but why remove
the logo and the name of the photographer ?

So because of that I decide to put my logo
sometimes on a part of the woodcock or/and
sometimes near the woodcock, and this is
only for my Woodcock and grouse photos with
the size of 800x533 pixels that I will publish.

1/4000s f/5.6 ISO1600 85mm (35mm eq:127mm).

----------------------------------------
--- Now lets come to the story of the photo ---
----------------------------------------

« When in May of 2008 I start to follow a friend of
American Woodcock chicks banding, the fist thing he
learned me is that if the woodcock takes off the legs pending,
like in this photo, this means that there are chicks.

Because there is also the normal take-off flight of
the woodcock like in hunting it is completely different
and it is a very fast take-off flight.

So when the American Woodcock has chicks with her,
she takes-off with pending legs and heavy flight.
In North America (USA & Canada) they band woodcock chicks,
when the bander arrives with his pointing dog and the woodcock
takes-off like this photo it means there is chicks, that day of
mid-may 2008 I asked my friend, the mother she takes off
and went, is she come back ?

My friend assured me don't worry once the chicks are banded
and we will leave this area of the wood, the Mommy woodcock
and here chicks by whistling they will find each other again. »

Merci.

Asbed

Hello Asbed,
Nice photo of this Woodcock in flight. Your signature double in the photo is a bit too much, I think. Why not as a watermark through the photo. Then it's not so disturbing as it is now. But that's only an idea. I hate pleasure hunters.
Regards,
Peter
