Hello Everyone,
This Marbled Godwit was giving me a piece of it's mind for intruding on it's space. This was shot today at work.

Marbled Godwit
Family: Scolopacidae

Description 18" (46 cm). A crow-sized shorebird, dark and mottled above, cinnamon-buff below, with cinnamon wing linings and long, pinkish, upturned bill.

Habitat Breeds on grassy plains; visits salt marshes, tidal creeks, mudflats, and sea beaches on migration.

Nesting 4 olive-buff eggs, blotched with brown, in a slight depression lined with grass on the ground.

Range Breeds on the central plains from Saskatchewan to Minnesota. Winters on coasts from California and Virginia southward and along Gulf Coast.

Voice A loud kerreck or god-wit, usually heard on breeding grounds.

Discussion In spring on the Great Plains, the aerial displays and noisy calls of Marbled Godwits are conspicuous. Males chase one another and perform figure-eight flights. The birds nest in loose colonies, and while the eggs are incubated by the female alone, both parents guard the young birds as they feed. Like the Long-billed Curlew, it is a rich buff color, blending perfectly with the brown grass of the plains.

The Godwit looks angry alright, Rick :-)!
It is an adorable picture from an excellent point of view.
The colors are very natural.
The BG of marshy land lends authenticity to the capture.
Thanks and regards.

Hello Rick,
your capture has always been very exciting in its naturalness.
Very lively gesture by the bird and very well composed. The details are well seen and the grass in the background is so graphical, making your shot splendid.
The orange beak is so lively.
A well presented composition.

Regards,
Foozi

Hello Rick,
A few daysí trip north to visit family has delayed my activity on TN!
This is a fine capture of a Marbled Godwit taken from a nice POV with excellent sharpness, timing to show the open bill and tongue, colours and lighting to make this a very good portrait of this species.
Thanks for sharing this one Rick!
Best regards,
Ivan
