[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Today is Thanksgiving in Canada, so I took the family hiking at Writing On Stone. It was a bit chilly (10C, 50F) but with beautiful blue skies. Lots of wonderful shots.

"The park comprises 17.80 square kilometres (4400 acres) of coulee and prairie habitat, and boasts a diverse variety of birds and animals.

The park is located in the Milk River Valley. To the south are the volcanic Sweetgrass Hills. Bird species include prairie falcon, great horned owl, short-eared owl, American kestrel, cliff swallow and the introduced ring-necked pheasant and grey partridge.

The prairie surrounding the park is a habitat for pronghorn antelope, and other species inhabiting the park include mule deer, northern pocket gophers, skunks, raccoons, yellow-bellied marmots, and the reclusive cougar. Tiger salamanders, boreal chorus and leopard frogs, and plains spadefoot toads represent the amphibians, and both garter snakes and prairie rattlesnakes can be found sleeping in cool areas.

The coulee environment is optimal for tree species such as balsam poplar and narrow leaf cottonwood. Peach leaf willow and plains cottonwood are also found here. A large number of shrubs grow here, including chokecherry, juniper, saskatoon, sandbar willow, and two varieties of wild rose. Some of the most northern species of cactus, including Opuntia (prickly pear) and Pediocactus (pincushion) are found in the park as well Source.

Nice Mike,

Thanks for the note, interesting palce I have never been.

Well, aren't you getting good managing that lens. The depth of focus is just great!. They say not to use a polarizer with it but it's not too bad here! Nice angle on this shot and great saturation.

Happy Thanksgiving...We have another month+ to wait for turkey! (Is turkey as big a deal in Canada as it is here?)

Hello Mike very nice image held together by a good composition. The gravel in the foreground strengthens the compo. I often longed for clear blue skies in my early work but now I loved the clouds in my images, especially dark threatening ones. Having said that the I think you managed very well an even graduation of blue across the frame which can be a problem with Ultra wide zooms and CP. Very well done.

Mike,
This looks like a postcard shot from a National Park. Great detail, composition and textures here. Awesome blue gradient.

Hi Mike,
Great colors and good details throughout the entire scenery. I really like the way you angled the view with the shoreline comming out of the corner. Great clarity and perfect use of the CP filter. The shape of the rocks are really interesting.

Niek

Hi Mike,
Well done mf. I like the color saturation, clarity, sharpness, and details here :)

Hello Mike,
This is a fine composition with good lines!
Autumn is very evident in this scenery, and nature is preparing for winter...
Great natural colours and superb details!
