This duck is a very rare sighting around here.It is said by the birders around that it came here on a wind direction change and is now among some of the scaups on the area.
Normally from Eurasia, there was many enthusiasts coming into the estuary to see this duck.
----------------

Here is the wiki explanation.

The Tufted Duck, Aythya fuligulaThe adult male is all black except for white flanks and a blue-grey bill. It has an obvious head tuft that gives the species its name. The Tufted Duck breeds widely throughout temperate and northern Eurasia. It occasionally can be found as a winter visitor along both coasts of the United States and Canada. It is believed to have expanded its traditional range with the increased availability of open water due to gravel extraction, and the spread of freshwater mussels, a favourite food.
These birds feed mainly by diving, but they will dabble. They eat molluscs, aquatic insects and some plants and sometimes feed at night.

Hi Doug,
Beautiful timing and capture.Eye contact, details and sharpness are excellent. Thanks for posting.
I'll be back soon:)

Hi Doug, it is always great when you can capture a rare find like this, and what a capture. I like that stopped motion you have with the duck lifting himself out of the water, and with those spread wings. The detail even with this action is excellent. I like how you caught not just the wing, but excellent detail on his chest and head, and that great yellow eye. The composition is excellent with the bird well placed in the frame. Depth of field is good, even at f/4.5 you've picked up decent detail and great colour from that water.

Thanks, John
