[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Fledged Great Horned Owl chick up on it's own perch. There is 3 of them at this location, along with both parents.
Young owls begin short flights at about 8 weeks after hatching. The parent owls feed the young into the fall; at which time the young owls begin to hunt on their own. At this point they leave the territory of the parents.

Thanks for the recent comments on the eagle.
Have a nice week everyone!

Hello Doug,

Beautiful picture of this owl. Good POV, DOF and sharpness. I like the texture of the feathers on the belly. Great light and colours.

Hallo Doug
A lovely photograph of this Great Horned Owl chick. I think if I ever get the opportunity to photograph a bird as beautiful as this, I’ll be so fascinated by their beauty, I might forget to push the button to snap it at the right time. Just looking at this photo I am so astounded by the wonderful detail of its eyes, the baby fluff on its plumage, the fine feathers on the front of its face and the gorgeous and dainty looking ears. This is great close up and portrait, well presented. Thanks for sharing, I enjoyed looking at it.
Kind regards
