[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a Grizzly bear, the formal name of which is Ursus Arctos Horribilis.
In North America, there are 3 types of bears: brown or black bears, the grizzly that is larger, and the polar bear.
I've seen many black/brown beras in the wild and they don't scare me much, though they can be dangerous and one should always be very cautious in their presence. But a grizzly, which fortunately I've never encountered in the wild, would terrify me. They are very dangerous. Polar bears ditto.
So what about this one? Well, I have a philosophical objection to capturing images of animals and birds in zoos and such like. However, this bear lives in a large very natural enclosure, with a sibling, at the top of Grouse Mountain in North Vancouver. They were acquired as cubs and are thought not to be able to be released in the wild. They are protected and enclosed by a mesh wire fence but one can shoot through the gaps to get a picture like this.
Image has been cleaned up a bit in P Shop.

Hello John,
What a delightful portrait of this huge Grizzly.
I love the composition and the light around his ears etc
Exposure, colours and detail are very good indeed.
He looks so peaceful there among the flower it is hard to picture him getting cross at all.
Beautiful shot.
Well done.

Quel impressionnant annimal ! On aurait bien envie d'aller enfoncer nos mains dans cette criniaire !
Belle netteté
Bonne journée

Hi John,
Another beautiful portrait!
Details and sharpness are very excellent. Depth of field is nice and the yellow flowers add something more on this top-notch shot.
