[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This little heron is fledging, and the adults leave it alone now to learn the ways in the wild.
They do come visit every few hours, but I did not see the mother come by while there.
-----------------------
Wiki info...
------------
The green heron is relatively small; adult body length is about 44 cm. The neck is often pulled in tight against the body.[1] Adults have a glossy, greenish-black cap, a greenish back and wings that are grey-black grading into green or blue, a chestnut neck with a white line down the front, grey underparts and short yellow legs. The bill is dark with a long, sharp point. Female adults tend to be smaller than males, and have duller and lighter plumage, particularly in the breeding season. Juveniles are duller, with the head sides, neck and underparts streaked brown and white, tan-splotched back, and greenish-yellow legs.

Re:Kathleen. I edited out that sunspot and I agree it looks nicer, Thanks

very nice comp...
congratulation

Beautiful bird image Doug.
Composition is excellent and backlighting, due to wich all the small soft feathrs of the bird are visible in a lovely way, is most wonderful.
Perfect work. Thanks for sharing.
Best regards, Harry

Hi Doug,
I love the outer glow tracing around your subject, you acheived fantastic results from your POV. :)

Hi Doug.
Wow! Very beautiful. Great sharpness and colour. I love the light here. Not just that the backlight illuminates the new feathers, but the front is suitably lit as well. Very well done.
Regards, Steve.

Hi Doug,
A beautiful picture!
I like so much the effect created with the baklight, it makes a nice halo surrounding the bird's silhouette.
The bird gives the sensation of vulnerability, like waiting for the others to care of him.
It's very good the DOF used, got a nicely blurred background.
Love the wide composition made.
Congratulations and thanks for share it.
My best regards,
JM
