Ponies on the Winter Range

[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note |
After leaving Waterton Lakes National Park, we stopped at this range in the park buffer zone to take some pictures of horses in the distance. I got out of the car and began shooting. The horses started to notice and slowly came towards me, eventually lining up in small groups to pose! They were wild and very shy: I clicked my tongue, and they shied away, but curiosity got them and they came to me again.

Great shot showing the plight of animals in the harsh Canadian winter. Nice exposure and composition.
Hello Otto,
Wow thats a big bunch of horses, its amazing for me to know even the wild ones have the curiosity that tamed ones have. I love all their different colors. Good shot. TFS

hi otto, so, these are the wild horses you mentioned earlier? :-)
how "wild" are they? can they go everywhere? *g*
i once saw some wild mustang at bryce canyon, there´s a lot of space there.
nice capture with the whole group together standing in the snow and snowflakes all around.
i bet they make a nice "sauerbraten".*g*
well done & viele grüße, thorsten.

Hello Otto,
Not the best of photography weather but the subject(s) most interesting!
Image also tells the story about living conditions for these animals, hopefully someone is giving them additional food...
Well composed image with interesting details!
Greetings,

Hi Otto,
this is sure an interesting photo of these horses you have uploaded,as the details are conveyed very well in the atmosphere of it.The horses may be shy but as for myself,I'm a little nervous around horses,so I admire this photo for you did what I wouldn't do and in poor weather as well.Good colour, focus and details make this a fine compo,Tfs.
