Lake Louise is a lake in Alberta, Canada. The glacial lake is located in Banff National Park, 5 km (3 mi) from the hamlet of Lake Louise and the Trans-Canada Highway.

Lake Louise is named after the Princess Louise Caroline Alberta (1848-1939), the fourth daughter of Queen Victoria, and the wife of Sir John Campbell, who was the Governor General of Canada from 1878 to 1883.

The unique turqoise colour of the water comes from rock flour carried into the lake by melt-water from the glaciers that overlook the lake. The lake has a surface of 0.8 kmē (0.3 sq mi), and is drained through the 3 km long Louise Creek into the Bow River.

The background of Lake Louise is filled with views of Mount Temple (3,543 m (11,624 ft)), Mount Whyte (2,983 m (9,786.7 ft)) and Mount Niblock (2,976 m (9,763.8 ft)).

Hi Richard,

Lake Louise and Banff are on my list of must-sees. This is a beautiful scene with beautiful colors and lovely composition. The sky, the mountains, and the lake are wonderful. That's a lot of snow for June!

A great landscape. The place just memorized me a place near Rekang Pio, in Himachal Pradesh(India).Only the huge waterbody is not there. A place named Kalapokhri near famous hill station Darjiling, also looks like this place. But the snowline is not so close.

Hi Richard
A very beautiful place !
good composition, DOF, POV, sharpness and color.
I like the frame that the mountains in front gave to the back one full of snow..
well done.

hi richard
you are so lucky to be able to get landscape shots like this PERFECT.

Now this looks like a beautiful place. And to think it isn't that far from me. Perfectly framed by nature itself! Very nice composition Richard.

Hi Richard,
Splendid shot of this Lake in all its glory. The 'V' shaped mountain formation and the blue rippled waters presents a nice effect. I like your low POV to portray the scenic beauty and capture the majestic ambience. The faraway snow capped peaks and the wooly clouds on the blue sky adds romance. Very nicely composed. Kudos.

Hi Richard,
A Lovely landscape, well done.

Clouds change continually - 24/7 - the colour of the mountains / water varies accordingly...
I posted a photo into your workshop for comparison. It was taken on 16 june (2006) at approx 7 p.m. I would be interested in your comments.
