Thanks for the comments on my Fairy Prince moth. Here are his pots of gold, as promised.
The common name for these is actually Pixie Cups. I'm not sure, but I believe they are a type of fungus, as opposed to False Pixie Cups which are a type of lichen. I don't know the Latin name for Pixie Cups -- my library of field manuals does not include one on fungi, something I shall have to remedy. I tried a Google search but all I got was reams of references to the False Pixie Cups (Cladonia pyxidata).

I did a bit of post processing on this image -- the 'coins' are actually spore packets and are naturally a dark brown color, but they looked so much like pots of gold that I just had to play with the color a bit.

"Pots of gold" is the perfect nomenclature for this species of fungii, Shelley.
This is a brilliant capture of two of them. The "coins" look almost real!

Never seen this before. Never knew it exist. I'd like to find some too. {Alternativelly a really pot of gold would do too]

A beautiful close up of these fungi.I have never seen these before.They do look like tiny bags of gold.Very good POV and DOF.The lighting and colours are very good.TFS
