* Variable Darner (Aeshna interrupta Walker, 1908)

* The Variable Darner (Aeshna interrupta) is a dragonfly of the family Aeshnidae, native from Alaska through the Northwest Territories to Newfoundland, south to New Hampshire and Michigan in the eastern United States, and to the mountains of New Mexico, Arizona, and California in the west. It's named after the distinctive broken stripes on the sides of the thorax of many male specimens. It lives in many habitats from northern and mountain peatlands to cattail marshes and temporary pools. It is the characteristic species of grassland ponds.

Hello Kevin,
Wow, you've really planned this shot well! Superb capture of these two in a "straight" cop! Excellent DOF, very sharp details and fine natural colours. They stand out so well against the light background. Well done!

Hola Kevin.

Hello Kevin,
I like the POV, composition and DOF very much in this capture of a pair of Variable Darners in copulo and the contrast with the OOF light green natural BG is great, especially as the dragonflies are so sharp.
Well done, thanks and have a nice weekend!

Hi Kevin

Technically you've done really well to capture these guys mating and in a good position that has allowed an unusual POV. Great sharpness and OOF background.

Great work.

Hi Kevin

Ups...i almost missed this one :)
What a splendid capture! Indeed, i know how difficult and rare it is to catch such species while mating...further more, the odds of finding them in such an "opened" place as this one are even smaller. But you were luck enough to do it and you took great advantage of it! Congratulations!
Even if they weren't here on a lonely twig, you knew how to isolate them well from anything else that might have been distracting. Therefore your DOF here is simply perfect!
The sharpness is also impeccable, the colors are charming and very well asturated and the composition you created is just lovely.
Wonderful work!

Bravo and TFS
