[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
TN friends, This is my first posting of the bird photo. This bird, Black-capped chickadee, is only one I can manage the photography of birds with my macro lens(105mm). :-) This bird is very friendly with people, so it's easy to get this friend.
I went some greenbelt area to photograph wild animals last weekend. My main target was the raccoons and I've got many helps from Rob(arfer)'s notes about the info. of raccoons (Thanks Rob, BTW), but I couldn't find them. They are hiding somewhere I think.
I'd been looking around this area a couple of times and finally I shot this little friend. :-)

I hope you'll like it and any comments welcome!
Have a great weekend! :-)

* The Black-capped Chickadee, (Poecile atricapillus), is a small, common songbird, a passerine bird in the tit family Paridae. Often, it is still placed in the genus Parus with most other tits, but mtDNA cytochrome b sequence data and morphology suggest that separating Poecile more adequately expresses these birds' relationships (Gill et al., 2005). The American Ornithologists' Union has been treating Poecile as distinct genus for some time already.

Adults have a black cap and bib with white sides to the face. Their under parts are white with rusty brown on the flanks; their back is gray. They have a short dark bill, short wings and a long tail.

Their breeding habitat is mixed or deciduous woods in Canada, Alaska and the northern United States. They nest in a hole in a tree; the pair excavates the nest, using a natural cavity or sometimes an old woodpecker nest. They may interbreed with Carolina Chickadees or Mountain Chickadees where their ranges overlap. The Black-capped and Carolina chicadees are virtually impossible to tell apart visually, but they are readily distinguished by call. Their point of overlap is near New Brunswick, New Jersey.

Hello Kevin,
Any experienced bird photographer would be pleased with this shot of a Black-capped Chickadee!
I knew that you were a talented dragonfly photographer but now you can add 'bird photographer' to your merits and to think that this is your first bird posting!
I might also add that this is one of the best shots of this species on TN. I can't fault it.
Well done, Kevin and thanks for sharing this with us.
Have a fine weekend, Ivan

Hello Kevin, great shot of the Chickadee ! Super sharp, great light and exposure, perfectly blurred background and great natural colors. Thanks !

Mario

Hi Kevin, A PERFECT shot - I have a LOT of questions :-). How did you manage to get the Bokeh so neat with your 105mm? How close did you get to the bird to acheive it? HOW did the bird ALLOW you to get so close(Were you in a Hide?)? and finally how big is this bird? :-)

VERY good capture, with a MICRO 105mm WOW!

Well done,

Warm regards,
Kiran
