[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This is a tree I have often watched with great delight in the winter for that is when it seems to come alive in a whole new way.
When the weather is cold those red berries, which often cling to the branches right through to the spring, attract flocks of Cedar Waxwings.
Where I live right now there is no specimen of this tree in sight, but I am sorely tempted to plant one in the sunniest corner of the lot in the hopes of watching it come alive as its berries fill the bellies of our hungry winter residents.

The Mountain Ash (Sorbus sorbus), a.k.a. Rowan (in the U.K.) is native to the cool-temperate Northern Hemisphere.

Tech: composed in camera, shot in RAW on Aperture Priority, converted, adjusted luminance on all but the sky, resized, sharpened edges, framed and signed

Thanks for looking and have a wonderful day and weekend

Well there ya go...Dang...All summer I have watched one growing in the corner down at the dark end of the road..I think I might have taken a picture but had never seen it before to my knowledge...and now I know...that is the way it goes isn't it Silke. And a great picture you have too. I shall now dispose of mine:-) Besides.. Nicholas posted a squirrel again at the same time as I was critiquing it, mine came outside the window..I shall try that one:-)

Hello Silke,
Beautiful bunch of goodies for the birds you've captured here! We have a lot of Rowan here and we always hope for Waxwings to descend on them but Thrushes and other birds seem to get there before them and they quickly strip the trees of berries!
Anyway, this is a beautiful sharp capture in fine light and in lovely colours.
Many thanks and enjoy the weekend, Ulla

Hello Silke,
Fantastic vivid colours! Excellent focus and Lovely DOF and BG (I like the blue spots of the sky in BG). Great shot Silke... :-)
TFS and best regards,

Claude

Hallo Silke,
Peter

I love the way the shadows play here. Your colors are beautiful and made even more intense using those shadows and lights. Wonderful shot!

Hello Silke !
Beautiful shot of these beautiful berries ! I had never seen them before. I love the warm and sunny colors, as well as the compsition, the POV, the nice sharp details. The blurred BG with nice colors is wonderful too. Very well done !
Valerie.

Hello Silke,
This is a lovely capture of the rowan berries!
Here they are the favourite of many birds too, and it is said during years with plenty berries the birds actually delay their migration...
Well framed, lovely colour contrast!
Greetings,
Pablo -

Hello Silke

A beautiful image of a mountain ash tree.We had one of these trees at the house where I grew up,I loved it.
The colours are rich and well saturated, and the orange berries contrast with the blue sky nicely.
