Okay , so the Red sky in the morning sailors take warning, Red sky at night Sailors delight, what does the 1/2 Red sun in the morning mean? ***smile***

Its amazing the different mood you can get looking through the lens of your camera isn't it? I mean when I saw this while sitting at my kitchen table, I could of course see a wide view of this big lake in front of my house ( 57 miles wide, 247 Miles long) along my road here are cottages and homes , but looking through the lens , alls I see is the start of the lake freezing, a few geese out there and this big sun rising over the cold water. It really gave me a feeling of how very small I am and alone. Not too many people out on the Lake during the winter, most of the homes and cottages are only for summer people, I'm lucky to live here 24/7 and get to see this beauty all year round.
Although I sure am excited about moving back to Vermont! So yes, I am alone for the first time this time of year but have alot of things to look forward to !! wheee!!!

Hi Donna!

I'm (almost) sure what it means: happiness. Your notes tend to corroborate what I believe.

At least, even if I should be wrong, it's a happy picture to me. The whole atmosphere, although quite cold, is peaceful and quiet.

I love it...

Kind regards

Markus

Back in the 50's and 60's my dad and I would drive out onto the lake in very late winter...there were others out there as well in defined areas of ice fishing. Somewhere near Sandusky as I remember but it has been way too long. I think folks are not allowed any longer...but some go on foot yet...scary thought...

Thanks for the reminders once more and Vermont is not a bad place. My first girlfriend, at age 6, lives there somewhere...a beautiful state full of diversity. Your images from here or there will all suffice.

Hello Donna,
Fine view of an early winter sunrise over the lake. Interesting to see the edge of the newly formed ice and the small flock of wildfowl in this nice composition. One wonders why the sun looks like a large red boat: perhaps its the cloud covering the top half.
Thanks for sharing this one and have a good Christmas,
Ivan

Hello Donna

A wonderful catch of this red sun in the morning.I was taught red sky in the morning meant sailors warning,so half a red sun in the morning means half the day will have bad weather, followed by partial clouds and periods of sun in the afternoon with a 10 percent POP.But if over 50% of the local cows are lying down the POP could be higher.LOL
What a magnificent grab. That patch of orange red is like a laser beam focal point.
The colours are sombre and the atmosphere created is excellent.
