[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
This young coyote was captured near Jenner, he was hunting when I stopped to photograph him. But here his attention was on some noise coming from a farm near by. The reason I'm posting this is I believe I saw him during my last shift and he has learned to be afraid of vehicles, because he was on a dead run as soon as he saw mine, that should keep him alive a lot longer in ranching country. The innocence of youth has been scared away.

A shame he's had to learn such a lesson, but i'm glad he now knows that Humans = Bad!
This is a such a lovely portrait Rick. His inquisitive pose is great and the soft colours and light are beautiful. The setting amongst the long vegetation is really nice too - one of your best imo, well done.

Nice capture in the typical prairie view, the excited expression is alsop impressive. TFS

The noise of a farm animal perhaps? He he...they are truly a wily creature. Hard to capture in traps and in images. In our remote wilderness they frequented the cattle ranches. 3rd generation ranchers were very good at capturing them with their rifles...It is a sort of contradiction in many ways. Man brought cattle to the natural wilderness, then claims that the coyote and cougar are coming on HIS land. The reverse is more true...but it is a sad fact of life and hence the coyote remains on the list of things that can be taken down year around without license..in this state anyway...

I never really had a good opportunity to capture this mammal. Nice image rick!

Hi Rick.
What a cute natural scene you have pictured. Image of the coyote is amazing. Its expressiveness, impressive glance and pose are fine as well as the grass which surrounds the animal. My best regards and TFS of this cute shot.

What a great capture of this lovely coyote. l have become quite a fan of this animal. They are so smart and resourceful. The color of this one is particularly lovely. lI love the pose and the intensity of his stare. You captured his spirit. Perfect focus on the face...

Did you find my note about going to Hyder this September... I tacked it onto some TN reply. My husband keeps bugging me for information : P He is "hot to trot" so to speak... or "Hot to shoot".

Hi Rick,

Our coyotes look nothing like this - they are scrawny and unattractive. Guess the hunting is better up your way. He certainly is on the alert for something! Beautiful face and coat. You captured him in a fantastic pose in a lovely setting.

What a splendid picture Rick. The tall grasses around the coyote, mostly blurred, give light and colour throughout the frame, with this fantastic animal watching for danger or prey. Everything is "blond", the coyote and the herbs. I am glad for him that he learned fear of humans and cars. Thanks!

Hi Rick, I don't think I've ever seen a coyote with such a good looking coat. Most that I've seen have been very scraggly. You've caught him in a good pose and in good sharp detail. I don't know what that plant is but I like the way he blends in with those soft colours. A square crop works well here in the composition, it gives him room to perk up those ears of his.

Thanks, John

Hi Rick,
I hope you are well as I read Lucy's marked post for Francine's photo a couple of days back.I sure do enjoy the sight of this young fellow as he looks so healthy and alert,in the prime of his young life.I have not had any photos of these animals that are up to much because I never seem to be able to get near enough to them. The clear air shows in this shot as you have such great detail captured and a lovely colour as well.I'm surprised by the amount of green that there is in the shot,is it possible that they may actually be growing even this early in the year?Thank you for sharing this young coyote with us. Bob
