|I think this is a Horned Grebe. It is certainly a Grebe and, in any event, its breeding plumage (note the yellow around the eyes) is just emerging. |
Photographing these guys is a little bit random: they dive fo so long that they seem to pop up just about anywhere! The Grebe is remarkable for a few reasons: one is that young often ride on the parents' back. Another is that Gerebes often eat their own feathers!
I have done almost no PP on this photo. Except for a minor resharpening to restore quality after resizing, nothing was done at all.

that beautiful little grebe looks like a Horned Grebe too me as well.Your capture of this fine little bird is very nicely detailed and like most grebes an outstanding red eye.A fine photo taken in a good light with very good colour and I thank you for sharing it with us. Bob
