Yesterday Mother Nature dealt our area a spring snowstorm that is supposed to last until Monday afternoon. This White-tailed Jackrabbit is looking a bit nervous as he has changed out of his winter coat and is in his summer brown one. This image was taken during a peak part of the storm yesterday. Francine, I know your tired of snow, but maybe you can take comfort in that at least it is out west this time. I feel sorry for the Horned Owls sitting on their nests, and all the new calves being born. How nasty coming out of Moms warm belly into 30 cm of snow and -15 celcius temperatures when your all wet. The upside is is was very dry as you could see in alot of my recent images the grass hasn't started to green because of the dry conditions, well we have moisture NOW.

Hi Rick,
what a superb image you grace TN with this morning, one that shows the current reality better than mere words could ever tell.I have given thought to the wild life enduring this wintry blast and the poor owls must be distressed as like you say they can't leave their nests and the wind chill is into the minus 20's right now,ah spring in Alberta,eh! The robins here in High River sure are puffed up beyond normal size and today I think I'll try to get some photos of them looking forlorn as they do.I like the eye colour this jack has and it's alert looking face overall. The exposure works well in this shot given the light you had to work with and also it looks like you got fairly close to this little critter as well. Thanks for yet another excellent photo. Bob

Hi Rick,
This little guy is so cute! I think I would have the same reaction if I would see more snow falling, now that it's all melted!
Great composition and POV.
Well done.

Interesting surprise look, I like the focus straight to the eye. Well managed exposure with the snowy white.
Best regards,

Rick...you do know that we await this storm today only a little past you in location and direction of storms travel. Should we get slightly over 3 inches in any amount of days this week, it will be the all time recorded record snowfall for Eastern Washington, specifically for Spokane.

The jackrabbit is certainly wondering if his cousin the Snowshoe is about anywhere and wearing his winter white. fortunately his den is not far and he shall survive this, more than likely better than we! Very nicely put and so timely.

Hi Rick,
you captured the "nervous looking" rabbit with good sharpness and details.
The rabbit looks so cute ;)
Nice POV and composition, but I'd crop the white line on top of the image.

Hello Rick
What a great capture this!!! It's so cute with those big blue eyes popping while it's all snowing about. How did you do to find it and capture it so well!!! I'm really impressed. A marvellous close-up with a perfect focus and fantastic POV, DOF and composition.
Thank you very much for sharing.

Hi Rick,

I can't believe you are getting more snow! Guess I shouldn't be surprised since Washington State has ten fresh inches of the white stuff. This poor little bunny looks shocked. The eye is fantastic. I won't ask why you were out walking with your camera in the midst of the storm.

Hi Rick,
I LOVE the startled expression on that jackrabbit's face.
How did you manage to get such a low POV, and to catch him just as he poked his head out of the hole?
The weather in California is totally out of whack too. Instead of pleasant spring weather, we are having arctic winds.
What the heck is going on, as the rabbit would say!
TFS. : )

Hi Rick, this has to be one of my favourites, an amazing capture. The timing is impeccable, the image is also impeccable. Truly an amazing capture. tfs - best regards h

Hi Rick,
Wonderful shot and it surely does look a bit nervous and scared. The expression on its eye is so vivid. Very neat and sharp image with great use of available lighting. The snow does present a great perspective. Excellent POV and composition. Kudos.

Haha ha! What a great title! Fits perfectly with those wide-eyes :-)
What an excellent shot of this little Jackrabbit!
That must be freezing!
You show the falling snow superbly due to the dark BG from your low-down POV.
Excellent DOF and pin-point focusing.
Very, very sharp and very, very detailed.
Exceptionally well done, Rick!

Hi Rick!

He does look disappointed in fact, but still very lovely looking with those big eyes! At least he made a cover to keep it a bit warmer and probably less windy. Very well captured and good notes on the situation, TFS!

Hello Rick,
It's another fantastic image.
The Jackrabbit's head in the snow is just awesome.
Pity the foreground snow do not show a lot of details due to the DOF. It's no critique actually:-).

Hello Rick

As Gomer Pyle used to say,"Surprise, surprise, surprise!".
This rabbit seems to be amazed at what is happening with the weather.
Excellent focus and sharpness.
The POV and DOF is very good.

Hello Rick,
This is an awesome image and a great portrait of a confused animal!
The expression is so well captured, effective point of view and a fine composition!

What a pity to look at this beautiful hare drowning in snow! But Rick, what a picture you offer us, it is sublime. Even the eye of the rabbit has a blue tone, the background is dark but blueish and the hare's expression says it all. You captured animal emotion at its best. Thank you so much for the kindness of your eyes, and I hope this snow storm won't hit us! Rain is supposed to be coming.
