[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Yesterday, I went out to the Bluejay creek to do a photoshoot for Trek L. to show a hobby other then photography. I brought my flyrod with me as I like to flyfish. I placed the rod on a stump and walked around looking for critters and other interesting compositions. When I came back, I noticed a movement on the flyrod, I ran back to the van, got the camera and proceeded with to shoot the ant. hard to do as it was moving all the time, so that is why for oof.
About 15mm was the size.

What a bonus, I said to myself, it's not a scout, it's a soldier ant which is not often seen.
So here is a new and for something completely different, a Red Ant.

I am seriously impressed with your ability to take such macro shots Mike!
Have you ever thought about marketing your "usual" setup?
This would be a great shot of any moving object, the fact that it is an ant, one of the teensiest, well that is pretty amazing.
Well done on this capture, (it's kind of starting to look like spiders again, though) :-)
Thank you for sharing it with us.

How was the fishing?

Great work Mike! Superb details on this tiny critter, Well composed, Very well done!!

Super shot, the binocular lens works to perfection here I think. Complete with moving leg, great stuff. the only thing you left out was to tell us how big it is. Well done.

Sharp, clear and detailed. This ant is real fisherman...erm...I mean - fisherant :-) Great post Mike!

Hi Mike! He is so sectional--his antennae, his legs, even his abdomen, things your binocular lens have brought to light! The whole macro image is neat, the flyrod looks like a thick, thick limb. Frame and background very nice, too. Did you catch any fish? Well done! Linda

Nice capture of this ant Mike. Lovely details and I know how hard it is to get ants right. Nice composition, especially with that BG, and good colours.

Great capture here Mike. I love the opposite colours in this ant.Excellent shot.

Their is a lot of detail in this little guy. It's amazing how well your makeshift zoom works, well done.

Huge detailed macro in an original place. I would have just prefered the rod completly horizontal. Nice shot.

Hello Mike.
Personal assessment of the photo: excellent.
Very strong visual impact.
Aptness of the photo for the site: excellent.
Personal assessment of the note: complete.
Thank you very much for sharing. I think it is the most beautifull ant on TN. Binocular lens... I still have that ;-)

Good show, Mike.
Not a bad catch of the day, hey?
It must have taken quite a few tries, I think.
I am still unable to get good shots of ants,
soldiers or otherwise.
