Pine Sisken
Carduelis pinus

The Pine Sisken are out in abundance this time of year. The teenagers as I call them, are forming gangs and visit my bird feeders and bird baths often. They seem to come often to feed and bathe. It's so funny to watch them in the bird bath as they flutter around and spray water everywhere.

How to identify a Pine Sisken;
They are a small bird, only 4.25 in length. They love to eat seeds with their short, conical bill. They are brown with heavy streaking. The wings and tail have yellow patches, although you may not see it in their tail. They have a short, forked tail and have a distinctive call when flying.

I finally used my tripod.
Used my telephoto lens.
Cropped out some of the blue sky.

hi Janice,
what a simple image of this beautiful pine sisken. lovely sunshine, against blue sky, it just stands out. tfs.

hi Janice,
çok güzel bir fotoğraf ama fotoğrafı biraz daha kuşa odaklasaydın daha iyi olurdu

Decent composition with the diagonal leaf/branch, but placement of the subject exactly in the center could have been avoided, rather more space towards the area the bird is looking at would have done wonders

beautiful pic, great diagonal composition, TFS Ori

Bonjour Janice
Ce petit oiseau est vraiment mignon, et j'aime beaucoup sa pose en diagonale sur sa branche ! Les détails, les couleurs et la composition sont magnifiques, de même que le point de vue.
Félicitations et au revoir...JP

They are so beautiful! I had the chance to see some only once as they arrived in flock and invaded the Thistle seed feeder :)! They are cheerful and very adorable creatures. This is a nice capture, well detailed and it stands so well against this blue sky! Well seen and TFS,
