This is a Common Loon (Gavia immer),it is actually floating in a very strong current and occasionally diving under for fish. Also known as the Great Northern Diver,This species, like all divers, is a specialist fish-eater, catching its prey underwater, diving as deep as 200 feet (60 m). Freshwater diets consist of pike, perch, sunfish, trout, and bass.
The Common Loon is actually an iconic symbol of Canada, and back in 1987 Canada converted it's basic unit of currency the dollar bill,to a coin. The loon was chosen to be on this new coin, and the Canadian public immediately called the new coin the loonie!
Canadians now affectionately refer to the dollar as the loonie. When the new 2 dollar coin arrived on the scene a few years later it was named the toonie, not the dubloon LOL.
Anyway ,I know this is not a very good photo of a loon but I liked the solitary feel of the loon on the lake with the reflections. If you ever have been lucky enough to hear a loon's evocative call you will understand the feeling one gets when seeing one of these incredible birds. If you have never heard one ,try google and find the wail of the loon.It epitomizes the Canadian outdoors, wildlife experience.
Thanks for stopping by.

Hi Wolf,

This little Loon looks so tiny surrounded by all the water. As small as he is he stands out so well because of the superb detail. The eye, face, and feathers are amazing. I love the reflection. A very dramatic composition.

Hello Wolf,
Great capture of this lovely Loon, superb sharpness, depth of feild, clarity and composition, lovely colors and nice reflections.

You must have known I would add this to the Small bird Big World theme...those birds which are in that theme are frequently overlooked...it is kind of like a specialty in medicine and takes a holistic approach to nature that only some have...well done!

Hi Wolf !

Nice capture, well played.
I like very much the colors and contrast them.
Data provided by you are very good.
Have a quiet days,

Hi Wolf,

The reflections in the water are assets to the composition. The p๔int of view is showing the details and colors of the lonely loon. The good luminosity is enhancing the colors of the picture. Have a nice day.
