hello friends, the water it is a river,
it is the river Rivière-des-Mille-Îles
from where we can go to the great river
Fleuve St-Laurent and navigating to EAST
we can go to the Atlantic Ocean

From Hinterland Who's Who website :

« The Mallard is an excellent mother, however.
She will stop at frequent intervals to collect and brood,
or warm, her young. If surprised by an intruder,
she is likely to go flapping and squawking across
the ground, as if injured. This feigned injury may not
fool a human, but undoubtedly lures predators away.

Once on the water, the female leads her brood to
feeding areas. The young find their own food, which
at first probably consists of small crustaceans,
or hard-shelled creatures, such as water fleas,
insects, and tiny plants like duckweed.

The young gradually lose their down and grow
their feathers. In about 10 weeks they have assumed
a plumage that is much like that of the female.
By that time, the female has abandoned them. »

Merci

Asbed

Hello Asbed,
A delightful capture of a mother Mallard with her ducklings, the colour combination with the sky-reflecting water of this tributary to the great St Lawrence seaway being very attractive. I was amazed to see that you used flash but it was effective!
Thanks and have a good week,
Ivan

Hi Asbed,

This is such a sweet family picture. Usually the ducklings are in a straight line behind the parents so this is a bit different. The mother is lovely and the babies are so adorable. Fine colors and details and we can see how soft looking the young ones are.

This is among your top five if not higher Asbed...This is one I would love to have a copy of the large image!!!! It belongs on a wall...it needs to be seen by young children who appreciate and learn through images such as this!
Bob

bravo
amitiés,

Ciao Asbed, wonderful composition with lovely family, fantastic colors, fascinating reflections, very well done, ciao Silvio

Bonjour Asbed,
