[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Canada Geese (Branta canadensis) on the wing are often an indication that the season is changing. The two in my photo were flying above the Row River in Calgary. My vantage point was the Inglewood Bird Sanctuary. Canada Geese don't seem to fly in any particular direction depending on the season. When I first started watching them in Canada, too many years ago, I wondered about them flying north sometimes when winter was approaching -- or, flying south when it was clear that the weather was getting warmer. What they are actually doing is flying to "staging or resting areas where they join up with others" (from iBird Explorer Canada iPhone/iPod app). Thus, Canada Geese might fly in any direction, regardless of the season, depending on where they are going to congregate. As it happens, the geese in my photo were heading roughly northeast.

Hello John,
A great capture of these two Canada Geese heading off for parts unknown. The clarity and sharpness along with the beautiful coloration is of top quality in this particular shot. Love the bright blue sky which makes them stand out very well.
I remember as a boy the excitement of hearing a flock of geese as they flew overhead during the fall nights. Things have drastically changed since those days, we have had an explosion in their population here in Ohio. They are now everywhere and don't seem to be interested in heading south at all in the winter.

Hallo John
Beautiful details captured of these geese in flight. You have photographed them well, showing off some beautiful features and detail, especially on the wings. The birds displays very well against the clear blue sky as background. The clarity of the image as a whole is great and very pleasant to look at. Thanks for sharing this twosome that almost looks identical. My best regards.

Hi John
Another nice portrait of our beloved Canada Goose. Spring is here when we hear their call.

You've captured them in a nice synchronized flight pattern. The beautiful colours and nice detail create a wonderful composition.
TFS and have a nice day!
