It was my cat that alerted me to this common garter snake in the back yard where I live. While these snakes may strike when threatened, they are harmless.
Garter snakes are ovoviviparous, which means they bear their young alive. Their diet mainly consists of earthworms, fish, amphibians, and other reptiles. |
