[Note Guidelines] Photographer's Note
Hello friends, photo shot the same day
as my previous photo, on my previous photo
among the critics/comments I had two times
comments about my 17-50mm lens :

« Incredible image with this lens 17-50mm..... »

« Astonishing to see this caught with
such a short focal lens as well. »

When I did my photos of the Great Gray Owl that day
and the other days in that winter of 2013 they where
of course also other photographers in that forest,
from all the photographers I was the only one with a
short focal lens, but I was the most advantaged,
because when the bird was taking his flight
with my 17-50mm lens I had a very good
and large Field of view where I could catch
this majestic bird in-flight.

The other photographers with their 70-300,
100-400, 300, one time 600mm lenses
with 1.4 or 2X extenders the bird was to much
big in the frame, sometimes they only had the
head of the Owl in the image.

Because the Great Gray Owl from the experience
I had in winter 2013 it is not a fearful bird when he
took off the flight he had to go through over the heads
of photographers or passe near the photographers,
I remember 2 or 3 of that photographers they told me
because of your short 17-50mm lens having a large Field
of view you have the advantage to have the bird superbly
in-flight in the frame.

1/3200s f/8.0 ISO640 50mm (35mm eq:75mm)
(there is no 1/3200s in TN's database).

Merci.

Hello Asbed,
To capture an owl inflight like this takes good timing and just a tad bit of luck. You don't often find owls out in the day like this, thus you were very fortunate to have done so. The Great Gray Owl is a large bird and has a rather dense plumage that is beautifully marked. You have photographed this particular bird in an attractive opened wing pose while showing good detail and natural colors.

Hello Asbed

Very beautiful post of Great Gray Owl, nice POV. I like your view to use a short focal lenght in order have a so good picture of its flight.

Hi Asbed,
Seems both you and your camera/lens like the great grey owl very much... Your series about this bird is extraordinary. This photo isn't an exception: simplistic yet beautiful, with gorgeous lights and perfect shutter speed to freeze the flying bird into an image. Incredible work, congratulations!
Best regards, László

Bonsoir Asbed,

L'oiseau est bien place dans le cadrage. La prise de vue permet de voir les details du Hibou en vol. La qualite de la lumiere embellit les couleurs de l image. Bonne soiree.
