Bow Lake

Bow Lake is located a half hour drive north of Lake Louise in Banff National Park. The water is a beautiful turquoise blue when looking at it at the right angle.

Glacial till is formed when the ice from glaciers melt, the mixture of unsorted sediment deposits carried by the glacier, known collectively as glacial till, is dropped, or deposited. These sediments often get formed into piles known as moraines, which we can define as piles of till deposited along the edges of past glaciers. colour is caused from the glacial till that flows into the water from the near by glaciers.

Happy New Year!

Beautiful...
Happy New Year...

Hi Janice,
Nice composition with the mirror effect on the water surface, although probably in the right bottom corner the mirrored mountain top is a bit too closed to the edge of the frame. The sky seems a bit pixelated, probably due to the re-sizing, however, the overall impression's positive as the landscape is fantastic. Hopefully we see more of the place in your future posts.
Have a happy and prosperous new year, kind regards, László

Hello Janice, and "Happy New Year" to you also.
A fantastic mirrored image of Bow Lake and it's beautiful surrounding terrain. Wonderful composition displaying rich yet natural colors. I love the way the layered mountain strata is easily visible from this angle. Gorgeous blue skyline.
