Greater Yellowlegs
Tringa melannoleuca

The larger of the two yellowlegs is a noisy and conspicuous bird. It is also more wary than its smaller relative and flushes at a greater distance. It often runs about wildly in shallow water or wades up to its belly and occasionally even swims. With its long legs, it easily obtains food in pools. The bill, slightly upturned, is used to skim small animals from the surface of the water as the bird swings it from side to side. This behavior, seldom seen in the Lesser Yellowlegs, makes a Greater Yellowlegs recognizable at a long distance.

Il a un drôle de look cet oiseau mais je l'aime bien avec ses grandes pattes. Comme toujours la photo est excellente. Compliments, merci à Luc et à son S2 ;-)

Good shot. The background is a little busy and distracting but gives a natural feeling to the image.

Hi Luc, just a short visit.
it's a very good picture, the low POV is very nice.
Good details and the shallow DOF make the bird stands out well from the BG.
Great work, my YB&OF

Brilliant photo, Love the colours, focus and overall composition. Like the way you have kept the water in the background slightly in focus to keep the ambience. TFS

HI!:)

Very interesting and great shot:) A lovely picture:) bye

This is nice. The sharpness and details are excellent. There is just the one thing that distract my attention and that is the ring around the leg but otherwise excellent. Well done.

Bonjour Luc
Superbe prise grâce aux détails et l'effet 3D. Ses jambes parraissent trop longues pour son corps. Sympa la pose.
Salutations Toni

Beautiful composition, Luc. Good BG-FG work.
I see a ring on the right leg of the bird.
maybe he (or she) is married. Or engaged.:-)

Thanks for sharing!

Hello Luc,

You seem to have a leaning towards lovely creatures with skinny legs, and this one is no exception :-)

A wonderful and tranquil BG, great details, and POV in this superb composition.

Very nicely done, and I thank you!

BTW, I saw one of your photos on Yahoo today.

Well earned smile now, critique later :-)

Hi, Luc.
It's very nice shot. I like the habitat BG, where the photo is taken very much - water bird is good to have water BG. Bird is very sharp, with good details and colors.

Hi Luc,
I'm still very busy, so have no time for a longer visit to TN.
Very good capture, as always from the hands and eyes of Luc.
Thanks for posting, have a great week.

As I progress I tend to favoour these type of shots more. It shown the natural environment as well as the animal. One can see the waterfall in the BG and the animal stands out nicely. Very well done, MF.
