Fresh off the press, folks.

This is the eye of a female Dark-eyed Junko. Relative size for a world view, would be a Common Sparrow.

How did I manage this you may wonder.? It all started when I heard a sound in my shop whilst walking around the yard. I turned toward the shop and there, inside the shop was this Junko trying to get out. I went into the shop, captured the bird in my left hand and in my right hand held the 20D with a Sigma 36mm extension tube and a Canon 70-200mm F/2.8.
Voila!!! an eye, up close and personal.

An interesting fact about the eye of a bird. Alot can be said about how far travelled, breeding, blood line etc.

Hi Mike
Totally WOW! What a POV, giving new meaning to the expression of a 'birds eye view'.
This was extremely well done, especially considering the fact that you took it while holding the 20D in one hand. It is not exactly a point and shoot sized body.
I am rather baffled in trying to figure out what I see in the reflections in the eye. Did you go outside of the shop to take this? Is that the sun's reflection? Is that a tree with pink blossoms I see in the BG? How come I don't seem to see you in the reflection?
The focus is brilliantly sharp with oodles of details and the contrasts (exposure) are great.
Great stuff and TFS.
Regards
Loot

Very nice shot. The details are incredible. Good work, bye Tom

did a w/s to try some abstract ideas

Hi Mike!
Excellent idea! I've never seen bird's eye from so close distance. Arty presentation, composition is very good. It looks surprisingly well - all these feathers around and glass surface of dark eye. Something new.

Hi Mike

Wow... what a fantastic shot. The reflection in the eye is outstanding. Very creative and a shot we will not see often. Well done! How was Miss Junko after the photo shoot?

Merci et au revoir..... Jean Paul

What a wonderfl shot, excellent contrast, colors, are really great , POV, fantastic, excellent JOB. TFS Kyle

Hi Mike,
I've always liked your artistic approach and this is a great example of it. It's almost surreal, such depths within that eye and is that a sun I see within that dark universe? The feathers are so pin sharp they look like cactus spines. Great technical execution and impeccable artists eye. Excellent stuff :)

Hi Mike,
just perfect, I love the light-reflection in this big eye so much.
I also have a big eye here today ;-)
Very well done, excellent work, bye

Hello Mike,
You, no doubt, seized the opportunity well. Great idea and quite striking or even a bit scary results. I like the catchlight in the eye. It's quite interesting to see the feathers from so close.
Great shot!

Hi Mike,

Luv the suns reflection seen so very well..
You did well to take advantage of this situation, with excellent results mf.
Very well done!

Fantastic capture Mike, an artistic touch to this one with the fine pens treated as graphic elements. Nice work.

Sir, I am open-mouthed in admiration. It will be one more my favorites. TFS and congragtulations, Mike.
This a unique close-up shot.

This is a very small bird telling me even with a 70-200mm that you were pretty close, after reading your note it definitely shedded light on that. Very nice details and exposure. :)

Well I have to admit, that is the closest shot of or a "Birds Eye View" that I have ever seen. Nice work as usual.

Hi Mike, I don't think you could have got any closer!! Superb show of the Junko's dark eye! The sun looks great reflecting behind you. Well done,
Janice

That, my friend, is the look of utter terror. Poor bird, it must have shat itself when you grabbed it and pointed that big lens right at it. Wonderful capture, amazing POV.

Alli
